The Simple Things.

September 17, 2014

Let us not forget the simple deeds,
for they are essential
to keeping us alive.
Let us not stray away from
the very things that built us,
for when we are fragile,
without it,
it will destroy us.
And let us not abuse the comfort
for when we are stagnant,
it will disease us
because behind this contaminated and murky affinity,
the simple things were forgotten.

I have been misguided by untold stories
and missed expressions
and hidden thoughts
and false hope.
I have walked this road before
I remember the turns and stops
the trees and rocks.
The sweetness of my childhood
and the bitterness of my teens
and the hopeful days that lie tomorrow
and faith of today.
I am a fool to have even thought this
but my bones are weak
and my mind is frozen
and I feel my entirety slowly
in the motion of brown leaves in the autumn.
I have felt the love
the connection
the gentleness of a bond
and Dear God,
why have I been lead to doubt these beautiful moments of life?
I feel endless
I felt endless
I see and I saw
hear and heard.
I scent the years that have long gone
And I can only recall through my senses
That I have walked this road before
I remember the turns and stops
The trees and the rocks.
The grandeur of this place is ineffable
and to be a part of something so extraordinary pains me in such an awe.
The stars at nights and the sun in the morning.

Yes, I have walked this road before
But Dear Lord, help me to walk this again.
